Armedia Introduces The Well Project Mobile App to Apple App Store and Google Play

Armedia, a technology firm specializing in information and content management solutions, recently announced the introduction of The Well Project mobile app to the Apple (News
- Alert) App Store and Google Play. The Well Project is a not-for-profit organization focussing on research, resources, and nurturing relationships as a way to address the HIV/AIDS pandemic. The organization specifically focuses on women to further drive its mission goals.
In a release, Dawn Averitt Bridge, founder and chair of the board of The Well Project, said that, "We are thrilled to launch the mobile application for The Well Project and to make our comprehensive content and A Girl Like Me blog for women living with HIV available more broadly to individuals who may not have access to traditional computers.”
She added, “In an age of ever-changing technology, it was clear to us that we needed to expand our offering to increase access to women in need of HIV information and resources worldwide. We were excited to work with such an esteemed partner as Armedia in this endeavor, and we look forward to expanding the number of platforms and languages in which the mobile app is available."
Designed as a full-featured and content rich mobile app, the latest offering from Armedia will support The Well Project in its on-going efforts to offer its global audience comprising of HIV infected women, their caregivers, and health care providers, with critical community and informational resources.
At present, more than 70 percent of The Well Project's 1.3 million annual visitors reside outside The United States. By releasing the new app, The Well Project will now be able to extend its objectives pertaining to standards of care, as well as its focus on driving public awareness and education about HIV disease among women. The most important objective of the organization however, is to keep people connected within a trusted, supportive, and protected environment.
The Well Project mobile app, which provides Apple iOS and Google (News
- Alert) Android platform support, was officially introduced at the International AIDS Conference in Washington, DC - July 22-27, 2012.
The app is based on the open source PhoneGap mobile development platform, and features HTML 5, CSS (News - Alert) and JavaScript technologies. The mobile app’s framework has been integrated with both Drupal and WordPress Web Content Management tools of The Well Project. This ensures simplified management of content and publishing of content to the mobile apps.
